CASA DE LA LLAR is a house located in the heart of Valencia. The building where it is located is an asset of patrimonial interest, due to the value of its 20th century architecture, rationalist modern language and art-deco influences.
The house preserves some of its original moldings, typical of this period, while new ones are placed in other rooms, with a refined and linear language. This distinction from the previous ones provides coherence and continuity in the language and architectural resources. The original structure is perfectly distinguished from the new one.
Vertical columns, that frame open rooms, are curved to blur the corners and are built with pure geometric details. Partitions that are not necessary to connect the space are removed. We use symmetrical niches to compose the living room elevation. These arched niches provide depths and shadows to the atmosphere of the most public area of the house.
In order to enphasize singular elements, like the chimney (llar in valencian traditional language) or the cooking island, we have used natural stones, like Macael and Calacatta marbles. La llar becomes the main piece of the living architectural view.
The flooring, equipped with underfloor heating, is made of herringbone oak wood, and the transition of each area is delimited by changing the slats direction.
Functional lighting is integrated into the ceilings, while the niches and cabinets are enhanced with spot and addressable lighting. Arkoslight systems have been used to provide warmth and elegance into the space.
The chromatic range is simple, using desaturated colors as neutral whites with black and metallic contrasts. This creates a timeless interior that shows a contemporary language with classic notes.
All the facade windows, by Finstral, have been selected with linear details and matte finishes. Its great acoustic and thermal comfort is essential to have optimum energy efficiency and to be completely isolated from the outside.
Casa de la llar becomes the stage of a family that seeks for comfort and elegance from the function.
