An Ode to Balance: Elegance and Simplicity with a Youthful Spirit in Ruzafa
2025
In the heart of Ruzafa—Valencia’s most vibrant and creative neighborhood—local design and architecture studio HEBRA has completed a full renovation of a residence that treats the past as a foundation for projecting the present. Set within a traditional early 20th-century building, the project respects the existing architecture, preserving high ceilings, original woodwork, and classical moldings with a fresh, youthful gaze.
Simplicity becomes the guiding principle of the project’s aesthetic, embracing restraint to allow a quiet, refined elegance to emerge. Microcement floors are paired with natural oak plank flooring, creating a soft contrast of texture and warmth. Walls in warm, neutral tones serve as a serene backdrop, enhancing natural light and framing the building’s original features.
In the main bedroom, a striking black-forged glass partition with classical moldings defines the open-plan bathroom—an elegant reinterpretation of traditional craftsmanship. The result is a fluid transition between spaces, where transparency and soft boundaries cultivate a sense of lightness and comfort.
Lighting plays a key role in the project’s atmosphere. Indirect, low-intensity fixtures cast a gentle glow throughout the home, inviting a slow, relaxed rhythm of living. The Danish-inspired interior reflects a youthful, contemporary sensibility—natural materials, clean lines, and carefully chosen pieces speak of quiet beauty and intentional design.
HEBRA delivers a home that subtly blends tradition with a modern way of living, where nothing is superfluous and everything is thoughtfully placed. It is a space created for a new generation—one that values authenticity, simplicity, and the timeless elegance of good design.
