Integral renovation of an apartment in Valencia,
Central-European style
2021
CASA MARVA is a passive house designed for a family in Valencia, located in an Ensanche building from the 50s. The project challenge was to create a central space as the heart of the house, connecting to the most private areas located around it.
The design of this house has energy optimization as a technical starting point. All the container is completely isolated, not only on the exterior façades, but also on each surface in contact with other homes, so that it works like a compact isolated capsule. This allows not having loss of temperature, in addition to improve acoustic insulation.
In a living space, where relax and environmental quality are sought, being located in the urban, the comfort offered by this type of houses are extremely distinctive. To achieve this passive system, the house has clean air renewal equipment, which complements the heating and cooling systems.
The concept of interior design that is worked on in the project is a dialogue between noble materials, such as stone or wood, and other industrialized materials such as micro-cement and stucco, which balance the atmosphere of the place.
The family needs of the inhabitants of this house allows us to create different rooms designed for much different functions. To rest, practicing sports or work at home must be coordinated with most public area, that articulates the rest.
The color range is simple, with some contrast of shapes and textures that harmonize with each other, to create spatial continuity. Light is filtered with natural fabrics that provide diffused color gradients and a different indirect lighting resources are used on each ceiling, to adapt comfort of each function.
Oak wood millwork is used to create orthogonal plans that frame scenes on each wall and it allows us to hide storage or energy facilities to make the space clean and sophisticated.
