HEBRA was entrusted with the design and execution of a Wayco space, a coworking company, in the Abastos neighborhood, Valencia.
Wayco was founded in Valencia with the intention of creating a community of professionals from different fields to encourage growth, creativity and networking between professionals, in spaces with soul and history within the city.
The community is made up of both large companies, digital nomads and small companies, generating flexible and dynamic workplaces. Some areas are temporarily occupied while others are for companies that will remain for a long period of time.
The starting conditions were to preserve and communicate the values that the community promotes. Sustainability, flexibility, quality and comfort.
The intervention was a challenge since the original conditions where not attractive, and the spaces were not related each other. The strategy was to create a route from the access to the interior courtyard, so that the beginning and end of the space would be marked by the exterior space, as a perspective background.
The general ceiling height at the path is preserved, but they are contracted in the perimeter of each room, so that there is a dramatic contrast at the space. Physical walls are not needed to delimit different office areas.
The space integrates meeting rooms, individual soundproof capsules, multimedia rooms for video-call meetings, an open work zone, a training room, rest areas, and an open space office equipped with a kitchen and dining room for professionals.
In order to provide the project with an exterior and natural environment, we create a light courtyard where we locate a new volume, as an industrial container, which differs from the rest of the premises to give it its own personality.
The concept of interior design that is worked on in the project is a dialogue between natural materials, such as ceramics or wood, and more industrialized but ecological materials: mortar, stucco and acoustic recycled wood paneling that gradually compose the soul of the place.
Different craft resources are used to achieve a variety of textures that, in contrast to the orthogonal and flat shapes, create a unique atmosphere.
Chromatically, the brand’s corporate colors have been used to make its DNA recognizable, but they have been treated carefully so that this space is perceived with warmth, elegance and contemporaneity.
